Today I inspected several coast live oaks that I began treating with fire mimicry in 2012. the photos above an below shoe the progress of these oaks over the past 7 years. If you believe that these results are due to the recent wet weather, please scroll down to see results from the drought years.

Of course, a fair question about these results is that they occur after a very wet winter, so the oaks may be simply responding to the increased moisture. Well, what follows is a photo sequence these same oaks showing their status in 2015, which was the peak year of the most intense drought on record in California. As you can see, the oaks were responding to fire mimicry at this same location even after several years of drought.
